Entanglement in abandoned fishing gear, plastic waste, human overfishing and habitat destruction have pushed sea turtles to the brink of extinction. All sea turtles in China are protected wild animals at the national level, are listed as threatened species by the IUCN Red List, and are listed in the Convention on Interstate Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. But little is known about sea turtles, especially their turtle habitat, nesting grounds, habitat and migration patterns.

"Turtle Map" hopes to quickly process satellite data by introducing AI technology, screen errors, generate turtle migration trajectory map, and improve the timeliness of data. According to the needs of protection and scientific research, the historical trajectory, hot spot and trajectory prediction of turtle migration are analyzed, and the related systems are open to scientific research institutions and protection institutions. Select the relevant data suitable for the public, based on Tencent Map to make a "turtle map" to show the migration of sea turtles to the society, in an interesting form, so that more people understand turtles, learn to find turtles and rescue turtles.

Since 2020, SEE Foundation and its partners have rescued and released 305 sea turtles, and installed trackers on 20 of them to track the migratory trajectory, and cooperated with many universities and scientific research institutes to analyze the sea turtle tracking data, put forward corresponding scientific protection recommendations, and take scientific protection actions.
